Public awareness programmes at Vallée de Mai include visits and volunteering by Wildlife Clubs, school children and other volunteers. Outreach programmes have included local exhibitions on Praslin and Mahé.

The potential exist for other environmental education programmes at Vallée de Mai and also more outreach programmes since it is believed that over 60% of Seychellois have never visited the Vallée.

In recognition to such need the Ministry of Education and the SIF has developed a school visit plan that aims to raise students’ awareness, increase their knowledge, and sensitize them on Vallee-de-Mai and the importance of conserving the reserve.

A number of projects have been earmarked would develop a sense of ownership to VDM amongst the children of island. These include talks and presentations on Vallée De Mai, developing small projects at school subject level, poster and creative writing competition, public speaking competition, etc.. Likewise, it is hoped that the school children will share information learnt and sensitize the public on VDM.
