Become a Volunteer

Aldabra is one of the most spectacular and sought-after destinations for scientific researchers as well as avid naturalists the world over. It seems the atoll holds a special fascination for almost everyone who learns of its extraordinary natural charms. Nevertheless, few people ever have the opportunity to transform this Indian Ocean dream into a reality.

Apart from the handful of scientists, keen yachtsmen, and the odd specialized cruise visitors, relatively speaking, few people have ever visited Aldabra. This is primarily due to its remote location and the difficult logistics involved in reaching the atoll. The Seychelles Islands Foundation relies on a supply boat, which only makes the 500-mile journey from Mahé 6 times in a year.

In recent years, following an overwhelming number of requests for a chance to visit the atoll from the local population and young foreign scientists, the SIF has introduced a Volunteer Program.

The program provides opportunities for sincere and dedicated individuals with a scientific or technical background to contribute towards conservation work and research on the atoll of Aldabra.
